SPEECH BY THE PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA, AT THE OPENING CEREMONY OF NAADAM FESTIVITY

My fellow Mongolians,
Distinguished Guests and friends,

From this respectful podium of the Central Stadium in Ulaanbaatar the capital city of Mongolia, I convey to you my heartfelt greetings for the Mongol Naadam Festivity on the occasion of the 2225th anniversary of the Statehood, the 810th anniversary of the Great Mongol Empire, the 105nd anniversary of restoring the national freedom and independence of Mongolia and the 95th anniversary of the People’s Revolution of Mongolia.

This year’s National Naadam Festivity begins with pride and vigor, coinciding with the four historic events. The Mongol Naadam is a supreme festivity and vivid embodiment of our glorious past, assiduous present and prosperous future. The Naadam Festivity is the greatest source of our wonderful culture and tradition.

Elections held before Naadam Festivity and the people of Mongolia elected the new Parliament and Government. There are many challenges that need to be addressed and many works to be done. We are one country with one destiny. We must move forward taking care of our own life and work, and respecting our common interest.

I’m opening the supreme festivity of our people - the Mongol Naadam for the eighth time. As the eighth son of an ordinary herdsman’s family, I will always pray for our people, and their wellbeing and vigor.

And the apex of joy and the supreme pride of Mongolians - the Mongol Naadam begins. This year’s Naadam Festivity has attracted many guests from different countries. Numerous high-level dignitaries and leaders from the two continents, Asia and Europe have once again gathered in Mongolia. Let us, the Mongolians have joyful Naadam and welcome our esteemed guests. The whole world is watching and our senior generation is watching us.

On these days, the Naadam Festivity is being held everywhere around the world, where Mongolians live. And the world is watching our Naadam Festivity. I wish the wrestlers be strong, the cheer of horse riders be clear, race of horses be astonishing, archers be sharp and our people be peaceful. From this high rostrum I declare hereby the supreme festivity of the Mongol people, the Naadam, open.

Have a good Naadam Festivity.
